Welcome to the heart of Colorado wine country. Shaded by the majestic beauty of the red rock cliffs and mesas that surround Grand Junction and Palisade, the Grand Valley is home to more than 20 wineries and vineyards that serve up some of Colorado’s best wines. You don’t need to be an expert to enjoy a summer afternoon wine tasting, winery tour or the annual Colorado Mountain Winefest, which is held every September. Visit Grand Junction and toast the best that Colorado wineries have to offer.
Spring and summer in Grand Junction, Colorado, mean the events calendar blooms right alongside the flowers. There are plenty of ways to get outdoors and celebrate local culture. Fruita, Colorado’s Mike the Headless Chicken Festival, which takes place in late May, honors the memory of the infamous chicken that survived 18 months after his head was chopped off. The Palisade Peach Festival, which takes place every August, celebrates the sweet side of local farming with a peach-eating contest, live music and lots more. For music lovers, be sure to check out Grand Junction’s annual Country Jam, a two-day festival featuring some big-name headliners, and the Downtown Art and Jazz Festival. There are plenty of other outdoor music events around Grand Junction, too, including summer music series hosted by the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens and several local wineries. If you’re visiting in the fall, be sure to keep an eye out for the Grand Valley Art and Craft Fairs as well as Palisade’s Feast in the Streets. – See more at: Grand Junction Events
